Busy Weekend For FDL County Sheriff’s K9 Team

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s K9 team assisted in four different drug arrests last weekend. It began with a traffic stop Deputy Justin Weisbecker and his K9 Koda assisted on Saturday. “It started with a traffic stop that resulted in some marijuana. Then later in the shift Saturday the State Patrol made a traffic stop and Koda and Deputy Weisbecker backed up that state trooper and a sniff of that vehicle resulted in finding cocaine.” Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says Sunday the team assisted Calumet County Sheriff’s deputies in an investigation that turned up heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The team topped off the weekend by helping the Fond du Lac Police Department with another drug arrest. Waldschmidt says, “A search of that vehicle with the dog resulted in finding both cocaine, and crack cocaine, pipes and multiple pieces of paraphernalia. So they kept busy this weekend.” The two-year-old German Shepherd was bred in Europe and trained by a training service in Iron Ridge. He is the Sheriff’s Department’s only K9.
