Call 511 For Road Conditions

Two member of the State Patrol remind drivers they can call 511 or check the 511 website for travel conditions any time of year. Inspector Scott Hlinak says when conditions are bad people will call their dispatchers and sometimes ask questions dispatchers can’t answer. He says while they might be able to answer what the conditions are like they can’t really answer whether they think you should drive. Sergeant Luke Newman says they typically get a lot of calls during the winter season when conditions are bad. He says if you go to the 511 website you can find out what road conditions are like across the state and lessen the burden on busy dispatchers.
