Calumet County One of Four Counties Set to Get Additional Circuit Court Branches in 2021

Calumet County is one of four counties in Wisconsin that have
been selected to receive new circuit court branches next year. Effective August
1st of 2021, Calumet County along with Dunn, Jackson and Marathon counties
will get additional judges.

The additional judges were authorized by Wisconsin Act 184,
which Governor Tony Evers signed last week. The act authorizes the Director of
State Courts to select counties in which 12 new circuit court branches will be
created during the next three years – four each in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The four counties adding judges in 2021 were also counties
that received funding in the most recent state budget for additional assistant
district attorney positions. Elections for the judgeships in the four selected
counties will be held during the 2021 spring election.
