Car Fire In FDL

Fond du Lac firefighters responded to what they believed was a garage fire in the 200 block of 5th Street Thursday morning. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says it was actually a car fire inside a two-car garage at 219 5th Street. He says the owner went out to start his car there was a small explosion and when he opened up the hood there were flames in the engine compartment. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control. It was contained to the car. Haase says there were no injuries. He says there was a lot of damage to the engine compartment and motor of the car. The time of the fire call was 9:18 a.m.
