Change In Room Tax Administration

The Ripon Common Council this week approved a room tax agreement with the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce. City Administrator Lori Rich says due to a change in a state law the City can no longer administer the money they collect from the room tax. She says they now have to go through a tourism entity and the Ripon Chamber meets that requirement. She says the chamber and Ripon Main Street get the majority of those funds. She says the Little White School House and a few others receive a smaller share of the funds, which amount to from $90,000 to $100,000 a year total.
