Chemical Safety Board Issues Update on Cambria Explosion

The US Chemical Safety Board has issued an update on the fatal explosion at the Didion Milling plant in Cambria. Five people were killed and another dozen were injured in the May 31st blast. Workers told the CSB that conditions were normal until just moments before the explosion – as they reported seeing or smelling smoke about fifteen minutes before it happened. The Chemical Board does not issue fines – but gives ways to improve conditions to avoid another incident. Didion is still appealing a $1.8 million fine from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. You can read the full report here
