Chimney Fire on University Ave

Fond du Lac, WI: On April 10, 2015 at 9:50 p.m. FDLFR responded to a reported chimney fire with flames coming out of the chimney at 178 University Ave.  Upon arrival fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming out of the chimney of the single family home. The residents were unaware that their chimney was on fire, but thanks to a Good Samaritan who banged on their door, the residents were able to safely evacuate the home.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire and kept the fire from spreading further into the structure.  The home did sustain moderate smoke conditions and was ventilated so the occupants could remain in their home for the evening.  Alliant Energy was called to the scene as a precaution.

The fire department was assisted by the FDLPD with traffic and scene control.
