City Council President Recognizes Wenzel Retirement

Fond du Lac City Council President Kay Miller took time Wednesday night to issue a proclamation to retired City of Fond du Lac Police Department Lt. Ed Wenzel.

Wenzel served in the United States Army as an Infantryman for 4 years and the Wisconsin Army National Guard for an additional 17 years as a Military Police Officer. He retired a Sergeant First Class in 2010 with deployments to Panama, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, and two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq.

He has been a member of the Fond du Lac Police Department for just over 24 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant of Patrol there.

In addition to serving as a board member for Salute the Troops, Ed also served on the board of the FDL County Historical Society and was Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 701. Wenzel hopes retirement now will allow him to spend more time hunting, fishing, and bicycling.
