City Moves Forward With Forest Mall Development Agreement

It didn’t take up much time on the agenda, but the effect of the action might be felt for decades to come. The FDL City Council voted Wednesday night unanimously on a 7-0 vote, to move forward on the Development Agreement with ATR Corinth, as the development company continues its work on the Forest Mall property. City of Fond du Lac Community Development Director Dyann Benson opened the discussion up by reminding council members that “malls of yesteryear are no longer in play” and that fresh ideas are needed to replace the eyesore that has been the Forest Mall property, located at the corner of Johnson St. and I-41. Benson also told Council that ATR Corinth plans on keeping the Softball Hall of Fame in the plans, and use it as a point of attraction down the road. Benson also informed Council that a TIF District creation would be a logical next step, with that action coming back to Council for discussion and approval at a later date.
