City Of Fond du Lac Bombing Suspect Found Guilty

A Fond du Lac man has been convicted on charges in a 2016 fire bombing that took place in Fond du Lac.

24-year-old Jonas M. Johnson, pleaded no contest to felony counts of Damage to Property by Use of Explosives, 1st Degree Reckless Injury, and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

He faces a maximum of 40 years in prison during sentencing.

The criminal complaint in the case states that Johnson and Elliot Schneider of Sparta planted a bomb type device in the mailbox of a multi family building on July 19, of 2016 on Doty Street in the city of Fond du Lac.

One victim was treated for injuries as a result of the blast.

Officers obtained surveillance footage from neighbors, which recorded an “abrupt bright flash” at the home. Two people were seen running off.

It was determined that the two planted the bomb in retaliation to one of the buildings tenants who they say ripped Schneider off in a drug deal.

Schneider is also facing charges in the bombing and his case remains open in Fond du Lac County.
