Cleaning Up Dead Fish at Lakeside Park

The cause of a recent fish kill in Lake Winnebago that brought hundreds of dead fish to the shores of Lakeside Park is still unclear. But if you go through the park today, you will notice significantly *less fish covering the area than there were earlier this week.

Fond du Lac Superintendent of Parks and Forestry John Redmond tells us the department is working to clean things up. Redmond says“it is a bit more than it has been in the past. And as far as the impact on the park, we are trying to minimize that as best we can by removing them from along the shore the best we can, and then along the boat launch.”

Redmond says the DNR has taken samples of the fish in for testing. We are told more information should become available sometime in the next few days.
