Click It Or Ticket Underway

A number of area law enforcement departments are participating in the Click It or Ticket safety belt campaign including the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department. The effort is underway and runs through June 5th. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says they will have extra deputies on patrol for the enforcement. He says the extra patrols are scheduled, but even if they announced where and when they were people still would be driving or riding in a car without buckling up. He says nearly a third of the people killed in traffic accidents in the County last year were not wearing seat belts. He says that amounted to seven people out of the County’s 22 traffic fatalities. He says a number of those seven were ejected from their vehicles. The state’s safety belt use rate is at 86 percent, its highest ever.
