Coast Guard Auxiliary In FDL Always Looking For New Members

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Fond du Lac Flotilla kicked off National Safe Boating Week with a free boat safety inspection this past weekend. Member James Haase says they will have a couple more opportunities for boat inspections next month. He says their members are volunteers and they are always looking for new members. He says they have to go through a lot of training. But they are all volunteers who wanted to give something back to the community. He says they recently offered a boating safety course and at the end of last month 15 people graduated from that course. He says the Flotilla in Fond du Lac has a long history. He says a couple of years ago they celebrated their 75th Anniversary. The auxiliary meets the last Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Yacht Club. The free boat safety checks next month will on Saturday, June 3rd at the Lakeside Park West Boat Landing and on Saturday, June 24th at the Marina Boat Landing. Both will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
