Common Core Hearing In FDL Today

The state legislature’s select committees on Common Core educational standards hold a public hearing in Fond du Lac today in the legislative chambers of the City-County Government Center. The hearing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac chairs the select committee for the State Assembly. He says they want to hear from the public and it’s a good opportunity for area residents to speak on Common Core standards for math and literacy. He says local schools superintendents have been invited to speak and will be given an extended period of time to do so. He says Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Jim Sebert and North Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Aaron Sadoff have both been invited to speak. He says eventually the committees will make recommendations on whether to leave the standards as is, tweak them or drop them and go in a different direction.
