Community Health Assessment

The Fond du Lac County Health Department, local health systems, and community partners are working on updating the Community Health Assessment. Joyce Mann of the Health Department says they update the assessment every three years. She says, “It really is a way of identifying some goals for the whole community to work on even though it is centered with the local health department it really is a community effort.” She points out a lot of our health issues center around lifestyle choices, behavior and nutrition. But there are other factors. She says, “Certainly more recently some of the drug addiction and mental health access, dental care has been an ongoing issue not just here but in other communities as well.  I think that is one thing is that when I look at our health assessments compared to other counties most of us are struggling with similar issues.” Part of developing the Community Health Assessment includes the Priority Issues Survey, which can be found at the Health Department’s website. It takes 3 to 5 minutes to complete. Hard copies of the survey are available at public libraries in the county and at the Health Department. Surveys need to be completed by next Friday.
