Competency Of Ripon Man Who Hid Brothers Body Questioned

A competency evaluation has been ordered for a 45-year-old Ripon man suspected of hiding his brother’s corpse in a barrel. Robert Diamentis was in Fond du Lac County Court for a preliminary hearing last Friday when the evaluation was ordered, which will be done by the Department of Health Services. Also last week Diamentis was granted a substitution of attorneys. According to the criminal complaint he hid the body of 45-year-old Richard Diamentis in a 50 gallon barrel at a residence on Olden Road. Richard allegedly died in February. The body was discovered after Town of Ripon Police asked Sheriff’s deputies for help on welfare check.  Richard suffered from a medical condition that affected mobility and coordination. According to a criminal complaint Robert Diamentis told investigators Richard died February 24th. He allegedly didn’t report the death fearing people would accuse him of mistreating Richard.
