Condominium Owners Opposed To Zoning Change

Owners of some condominium units in Fond du Lac are opposing zoning changes that would allow a used truck dealership to expand. The zoning change comes before the City’s Plan Commission tonight at 5:30. The Scenic Ridge Condominium development  is on the west side of South Seymour Street, which is north of Lenz Truck. The development consists of two lots one of which is largely undeveloped. If the change in zoning is granted Lenz Truck could use the lot for overflow parking. City Principal Planner JoEllyn Dahlin says 11 of the 12 neighboring condominium units are owner occupied and those neighbors are opposed to the rezoning for several reasons. Some of those reasons are visual. There would be a 10 foot high fence and free standing lighting. Neighbors are also concerned that vehicles trying to access the Lenz parking lot will use Scenic Circle.  Dahlin says City staff is recommending the Plan Commission defer its recommendation to the City Council to allow the lot owner to resubmit a petition with a better plan for the lot.
