Congress Grothman Supports Bill That Would Protect Against Identity Theft

Congressman Glenn Grothman says he’s backing a bill that would prohibit government agencies from including Social Security numbers on documents sent by mail. He says it can leave people open to identity theft. He says he sees no reason why the Federal Government would use those numbers in correspondence. During a recent meeting of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he sits on, Grothman noted for awhile the IRS has been sending Social Security information on postcards and in see-through envelopes.
