Congressman Petri Makes Retirement Official

A Fond du Lac Republican made it official yesterday that he isn’t going to run for re-election. Congressman Tom Petri spent more than three decades representing parts of eastern Wisconsin and he’s retiring from his sixth-district seat. He made his announcement during a town hall meeting at Neenah’s City Hall. Last Friday Petri’s office revealed that the longtime lawmaker was going to leave office. He looked back on his career including his work to reform the federal highway funding formula.  Two Republicans are already in the race to succeed Petri and several others are considering a run.
