Cortez To Serve 32 Months And Pay $2M In Restitution

A follow up to a story we brought you back in August. You might recall the name Roy Cortez. Cortez was responsible for crashing into Beaver Dam Middle School. He was back in court Monday and was ordered to pay over $2-million dollars in restitution and serve 32 months in jail.

Cortez had pled no contest to a felony charge of Fleeing back in December. Reports are that Cortez was traveling up to 90-miles-per-hour when he struck an electrical transformer and drove his truck into the school, creating a seven-foot-by-30-foot hole in the brick building. Cost to repair the damages are said to exceed $2-million dollars.
