County Buys Two More Acres For Future Highway Garage

Fond du Lac County will be purchasing another 2.2 acres on Hickory Road for the future development of a new county highway garage in Fond du Lac. County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says the property is adjacent to the 37 acres the County purchased for $800,000 last month. He says it will give them room to expand and a second route in and out of the property. Realtor Troy Rademann was asked about paying $92,000 for 2.2 acres of land, which several supervisors felt was a steep price. He says it’s a pretty good value for a property that is that close to Highway 151. It was also explained that the person who owned the land would be giving up a home and property that for tax purposes was assessed at $96,000. Supervisors Dean Will and Paul Levandowski voted against the resolution, which passed on a 21 to 2 vote.  Overall the County will spend $100,000 on the property with another $8,000 going for closing and administrative costs.
