County Clerk Says Early Turnout Lower Than Expected

A beautiful day greeted voters on Tuesday for the 2021 Spring Election. Maybe too beautiful. Fond du Lac County Clerk of Courts Lisa Freiberg told KFIZ News Tuesday evening the numbers so far were interesting.

Freiberg said the turnout early, as of 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, was not what she thought it might be, as she estimated that turnout could be as high as 30 percent of registered voters in the county showing up at the polls.

A number of locations in the county appeared to have steady streams of voters throughout the day, specifically Eldorado and Taycheedah due to Town Chair contests. Freiberg did say the city turnout, with less than an hour to go, was spotty. But she did add it was a “very quiet day. Very little phone calls. And no issues, so far, with one hour to go.”
