Court Of Appeals Upholds Conviction Of Brantner

The case has been ongoing for 30 years. It started in July of 1990, when Berit Beck waved goodbye to her dad and hit the road. The van she was driving was found in Fond du Lac, while her body was found in a ditch near Waupun.

Dennis Brantner was found guilty of the crime back in 2018, and was appealing the murder conviction. Now the Wisconsin District II Court has announced they have upheld the 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide.

Brantner initially was in court on charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, but that ended in a mistrial. In 2018, in a second trial, Brantner received a 10-year sentence, which was the maximum sentence allowed for 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide.
