COVID-19 Hospitalizations Drop, Recovered Cases Rise In FDL County, But Positive Tests Climb

When it comes to COVID-19, it’s all about the numbers. Many look to hospitalizations, and within Fond du Lac County, they continue to drop, now sitting at 10. You can point to recovered cases, almost 1,700 as of Friday afternoon after an increase of 40 more. Some will look at the negative tests, with another 259 coming in Friday afternoon, taking the county total to 24,239.

Where the concern continues to come, is in the positive tests being recorded. For a point of reference, it took Fond du Lac County until August 23 to record 972 positive tests. In the past four weeks, Fond du Lac County recorded 959 positive tests alone, with 346 just last week. Depending on where the Saturday numbers come in, we could top that number this week. There were 51 positive tests confirmed Friday afternoon, giving Fond du Lac County 319 so far this week, and almost 2,400 since the pandemic began in March. Everyone knows there are simple steps that can be followed to slow the spread. The question as we kick off October is, will folks start paying attention to them?
