COVID-19 Testing Increases Locally and Statewide, 3 More Deaths Reported In FDL County Friday

COVID-19 test results were up on Friday. According to the Fond du Lac County Health Department, over 200 tests were processed to finish the week, with 112 coming back negative and 90 reported as positive, leading to an increase of 51 active cases, pushing the county back over 600 total active cases currently. Hospitalizations held steady at 6, but the county reported the addition of 3 more deaths, with the county now at 73 deaths due to the coronavirus since March.

Statewide, more than half a million people have now tested positive for the coronavirus over the past 11 months. Almost 3,500 new cases were reported on Friday, and over 7,100 negative tests. It was the second day in a row with over 10,000 tests being processed. That hasn’t happened since December 18. It was also the second straight day the state reported 40 deaths. Wisconsin has now lost 5,119 people as a result of the coronavirus.  The seven-day averages for both cases and deaths had been low the past couple of weeks, but both of those areas are now back on the way up.
