Crash Reduction Effort Underway in Dodge County

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has begun
an effort to reduce the number of fatal crashes on the county’s roads. Dodge County
has seen 18 fatal crashes to date this year, which is seven more than the
five-year average. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the effort begins today (Wednesday) and
that over the next several months drivers will see an increased police presence
at certain points of the day. Schmidt says the three areas of focus during the
campaign are speed, inattentive driving, and stop sign violators.  Schmidt says the goal is to reduce the number
of fatal crashes by 25 to 50 percent next year The sheriff says he is also
meeting with county judges to discuss giving less breaks in handing down
penalties.
