Crop Losses Lead To Disaster Declaration For FDL And 23 Other Counties

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 24 Wisconsin counties as natural disaster areas due to crop loss from excessive rain and snow. Fond du Lac, Calumet, Dodge, Green Lake, Sheboygan and Washington counties were among those who experienced crop loss in excess of 30 percent between January 1st and May 21st.  As such farmers in those counties who meet certain criteria will be eligible for aid including low-interest emergency loans. Crop losses in affected counties ranged from 30 to 70 percent. Other counties included in the declaration include: Brown, Buffalo, Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Marathon, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Pierce, Shawano, Trempealeau, and Waupaca.
