Cyclists Injured in Crash during ‘Race the Lake’

Four people were taken to St.
Agnes Hospital as a result of a crash during the Race the Lake bicycle race
Sunday morning. Reports say the crash happened around 9 am near the
intersection of County Highway WH and Ledgeview Springs Drive in the Town of
Taycheedah. Two cyclists’ bikes reportedly touched sides, causing them to crash
– which then caused other bikers behind them to crash. The Fond du Lac County
Sheriff’s Office says up to 15 bikers were involved in the crash. It is
believed a group of 50 racers were traveling 40 mph in an area of the course
with a moderate downward slope. Those injured suffered non-life-threatening
injuries. The race was temporarily suspended, but resumed shortly after 10
o’clock.
