‘Dark Sky’ Mass Outage Training

People are expressing concern over an upcoming community exercise called “Dark Sky”. The Wisconsin National Guard will be deployed – and extra law enforcement and utility workers will be on-hand, as the area prepares for possible long-term mass power outages. Director of Communications and Emergency Management Bobbi Hicken says concept behind the exercise is not preparing for weather, but rather for practice in the case of a massive cyber-attack. Hicken says “we prepare for the things that hopefully people don’t have to think
about and hopefully we’ll never be needed. If we’re ready for this and we’re
testing this, we’ll definitely be able to help the citizens in smaller scale
situations.”
Dark Sky will be held from May 15th thru the 17th in Fond du Lac, Brown, Calumet, Dane, Milwaukee, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties.
