Dave Haase Will Talk About RAAM At FDLPL

Despite a detour to the emergency room with possible pneumonia and forced bed rest, Dave Haase rallied to finished second overall and first among U.S. riders on June 24 in the 2016 Race Across America (RAAM), the world’s toughest bicycle race. Haase will talk about this year’s “Seabiscuit” race at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Fond du Lac Public Library, the second in the library’s Going to Extremes series. The presentation is free; no registration required. Haase, 48, grew up in Fond du Lac and Oshkosh. Even elite athletes shake their heads at what he has accomplished. RAAM challenges cyclists to ride 250 to 350 miles a day from California to Maryland: 3,000 miles across 12 states, climbing over 170,000 vertical feet.
