Deadline Approaching to Apply for Upriver Lakes Sturgeon Spearing Licenses

Sturgeon spearers have until August 1^st to apply for a 2019 Upriver Lakes sturgeon spearing license. Participation in the Upriver Lakes season on lakes Butte des Morts, Winneconne, and Poygan in February is controlled through a preference point system – where applicants with the most points are given priority in the drawing. Spearers must apply once every three years to retain preference points. All applicants are notified whether they were drawn for a license by October 1^st. The deadline to purchase a license for Lake Winnebago is October 31^st. Spearers can only have a license for Lake Winnebago or the Upriver Lakes, not both.
