1802 adults and children in Fond du Lac anticipate Christmas help from The Salvation Army this year, Director of Social Service Ron Jacobson shares, adding “Many will not have any other Christmas except what we provide. “  Jacobson and The Salvation Army Christmas team are busy getting ready to distribute  toys, gifts and food to everyone on their Christmas assistance list December 14. Those planning on contributing are asked to remember  these deadlines:

Fifty two Toys for Tots sites, and numerous other toy collections, end December 12.

Angel Trees and Teen Stocking sites are in the business office at The Forest Mall, 845 W. Johnson St., Shoe Sensations and Starbucks Coffee Company, 187 N. Pioneer Rd.  Community is invited to select either a wish list or a tag from an “angel” to shop for, the return the new, unwrapped gifts by December 9

Canned goods, non- perishable food items and main dish meats – turkeys, roasts, chickens, hams –  for Christmas Dinner baskets are needed by December 9.   Food to fill the food pantry shelves and help families with meals during Christmas vacation are welcome through December 31 at Forest Mall’s “Fill the Sleigh.”

Jacobson and the Christmas Team joyfully thank everyone who help make Christmas special for FdL families.

The joy goes both ways, according to FdL Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Director of Client Services Erin Lund.  ” I volunteered on Distribution Day and didn’t expect to get sheets of paper with requests from children, ages 10-17, for simple things like heavy gloves, a warm hat, a scarf-things people usually take for granted. When I was in that age range, those types of things weren’t on my list and knowing that kids needed those “simple things” broke my heart. We’ve been a toy drop off since then… I still get excited every time someone drops off toys! “
