Decision In City Lawsuit Now Set For Nov. 19

A decision in the lawsuit filed against the City of Fond du Lac by current Councilman Ben Giles will be handed down November 19, 2021.

That information was delivered by Judge Daniel Bissett in a Zoom meeting Thursday afternoon involving Giles, his attorney Daniel P. Bach, as well as the attorney representing the City and Ethics Board, Anthony John Garcia.

The timeline allows for both the petitioner (Giles) and the respondent (City of FDL/Ethics Board) to to each have two weeks to file their responses, and then two weeks for Judge Bissett to review all the information prior to the decision date.

Giles had filed the lawsuit back in March, after the Ethics Board handed down their decision that he had violated one of the sections of the City of Fond du Lac’s Code of Ethics.

The lawsuit seeks for a reversal of that decision, with Mr. Giles claiming the decision of the board negatively affected him.
