Demand For COVID Vaccine In County High But Supply Lacking

Another 1,200 people age 65 and older in Fond du Lac County received the COVID-19 vaccine last week, and while demand is high to get the vaccine – Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel explains the supply isn’t quite where it needs to be just yet.

“There’s so many more people waiting in line that don’t qualify right now, they’re not 65 or above or they’re not First Responders. They’re waiting but they’re very eager to have the vaccination so we need more. There will be more, but each person that gets a dose in their arm, that’s another person that likely won’t become infected in the future.”

Currently, people who fall into Phase 1A and 1B are eligible to get the vaccine – which includes health care workers, long-term care staff and residents, police and fire personnel and correctional staff, and people 65 and older.

More information on the vaccine distribution process is available at the Fond du Lac County Health Department website.
