Democrats Offer Different Marijuana Plan

At the Capitol, Democrats in the legislature propose their version of medical marijuana.

State Senator Jon Erpenbach says their plan differs in a number of ways from that offered by Republican Senator Mary Felzkowski, including not taxing medical marijuana.

“If you want to have full blown, legalized recreational marijuana then absolutely there should be a tax involved. But not when it comes to marijuana when you use it for medicine.”

Also unlike the Republican bill, Erpenbach says Democrats want to allow medical marijuana user to have up to twelve plants for their own use. Felzkowski’s bill doesn’t include smokable marijuana as an option. As for legalizing recreational marijuana, Erpenbach says Republicans won’t support that.
