Dennis Brantner Sentencing Today

Emotions will be at play in a Fond du Lac County courtroom today as a 64-year-old Kenosha man is sentenced for the murder of Berit Beck. Last month Dennis Brantner was convicted of second degree reckless homicide in the July 1990 murder of the 18-year-old woman from Sturtevant. Under the 1990 law the maximum sentence Brantner could receive is 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. With the truth in sentencing component he would get two-thirds of the sentence and together with the sentence he is currently serving on a drug conviction would end up serving a total of 13 years and 2 months in prison. But the sentence is up to Judge Robert Wirtz. Beck’s parents Dave and Diane Beck have been in court for most of Brantner’s hearings including a 2016 jury trial that ended with a hung jury. Berit Beck was murdered in Fond du Lac.
