DFP Needs And Recommendations Considered

Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Executive Director Amy Hansen updated the City Council last week on the Downtown Exploratory Committee recommendations. She told them with those recommendations and their own from a market study analysis they would like to now start implementing some of those recommendations. She would like to see an implementation plan developed. But there are other needs as well. Hansen says downtown apartments are snapped up as soon as they become available and she believes a master plan for residential development would help. She says the Main Street Plaza and Hamilton Park under developed and there is a need for establishing public art funding. As for the DFP’s own needs she says having a full time person for business development efforts would be helpful. City Manager Joe Moore says they should be able to get a truer picture of the DFP’s needs in June when they begin working on the 2018 City Budget. Moore says the City is working with a firm in Cedarburg that could help the City with implementation and master plans, but no one has talked about possible costs yet.
