DHS Confirms Second Monkeypox Case In WI

Wisconsin has a second confirmed case of monkeypox.

Over the weekend, the state Department of Health Services identified that second confirmed case of orthopox virus, presumed to be monkeypox, in a Milwaukee County resident.

That person is currently isolating as DHS works with federal and local partners to identify individuals who may have been in contact with the patient.

There have been more than 760 confirmed monkeypox and ortho poxvirus cases in the US, but according to DHS and the CDC, the overall risk to the general public remains low.
