DHS Deputy Secretary Says End Of COVID-19 Months Away Yet

There are fewer COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin than during the surge over the winter, but the Department of Health Services says we’re not out of the pandemic just yet. Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk says that despite vaccinations moving at a steady pace, people still need to keep another flare-up of COVID-19 from happening.

“In fact we have confirmed more cases of the b-117 variant, the more infectious variant originally found in the United Kingdom.”

The state has confirmed 19 cases of that variant in total. Willems Van Dijk says we’re several months out from beating COVID-19.
