DHS Launches New Electronic Records System at WMHI

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is launching an
electronic health records system for its seven care and treatment facilities.
Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh
is the first location going live with the new DHS Connect program.

The system
is expected to streamline access and exchange of information among all staff
for better-informed decision-making. DHS Connect supports things like
registration, admission, assessment, treatment planning, delivery, order
management, medication management, and discharge of patients.

It replaces a system of paper records
supplemented with facility-specific electronic applications. All DHS facilities
are expected to be using the system by the end of 2020.
