Diabetes Awareness Month

Nearly 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year and another 30 million Americans already have it. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there is a workshop available to help out those who are pre-diabetic. The Living with Diabetes workshop is a 6 week workshop that helps to set goals and accomplish them. The workshop has shown some good results for those who hope to avoid becoming diabetic. More about diabetes can be learned online or by asking your primary care physician. Mueller says Medicare will cover some costs if you need to consult a physician about diabetes. More information is available about the Diabetes workshop by contacting the Health Department at 929-3085. You can also contact Agnesian HealthCare or the Aging and Disabilities Resource Center.
