Diabetic Driver Leaves Trail Of Destruction

It was a very bizarre day on the streets Tuesday, with Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responding to reports of a truck crashing into a pole on Pioneer Rd., just west of Main St. The incident took place about 1:30 p.m. and according to witnesses on the scene, the 60-year old male driver of the vehicle was diabetic and had just left St. Agnes. The witness said the driver appeared to be disoriented and in shock. The driver had navigated through the round-a-bout at Morris St., but not before taking out a sign. He then took out a light pole in front of the J.F. Ahern building, continuing east on Pioneer Rd., while proceeding to take out a large section of the guardrail in the eastbound lane. There were no injuries as a result of the accident, although the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
