Different Approaches Taken Regarding Absentee Ballots

Some local elections officials appear to be ignoring a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling on absentee ballots.

Different communities are taking different approaches to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s recent ruling on returning absentee ballots.

The League of Wisconsin Municipalities warns that it’s a civil rights violation for local clerks and election-day workers to not accept a ballot from anyone but the person who filled it out.

Milwaukee’s elections commissioner says her office will not check IDs when voters return ballots, and will continue to allow people to return absentee ballots for others.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in February that voters can only deliver their own ballot to the polling place or clerk’s office.
