DNR Biologist Pleads Not Guilty In Caviar Cover Up

The DNR sturgeon biologist involved in a caviar scam has plead not guilty to the charges. Ryan Koenigs was in court Tuesday in Winnebago County, pleading not guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge. Bond was set at $500, with a jury trial now set for July 15. Koenigs is currently on administrative leave from the Wisconsin DNR, after Koenigs was charged as being part of a caviar cover up. DNR and U.S. Fish and Wildlife representatives had been investigating reports that caviar had been purchased, sold, bartered and traded around the Lake Winnebago area.
