DNR Hoping For A Good Deer Hunt This Season

Brisk conditions greeted Wisconsin deer hunters on the first weekend of the nine-day gun deer season.

The Department of Natural Resources is hoping for a good hunt this season. Experts say that a mild winter and below-average harvests in 2019 and 2020 have boosted the state’s white-tailed deer population.

Conservation officers say more deer will be taken on private land, but the state’s seven-million acres of public land offers a wide range of habitats and hunting possibilities. First weekend estimates will be available later this week.
