Lomira Man Killed In FDL County Snowmobile Accident

The Wisconsin DNR continues to investigate a snowmobile accident Saturday afternoon that took the life of 25-year old Jacob Zielicke of Lomira. FDL County Sheriff’s logs show deputies were called out around 4:40 p.m. Saturday, near Sunny Knoll Rd. and Dixon Rd., outside of Brandon, where a caller reported finding Zielicke unresponsive and not breathing.

The passerby administered life-saving measures at the scene until medical personnel arrived, and then Zielicke was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Ripon.

Jason Roberts, from the WI. DNR’s Bureau of Law Enforcement told KFIZ News Zielicke appeared to have been on the trail by himself, and appears to have lost control of his snowmobile, crashing into a tree. Roberts did say that it’s possible blowing and drifting snow may have played a part in the fatal accident, but it’s still too early to tell. It’s not known at this time whether speed or alcohol played a part in the accident.
