DNR Officials Ready For Gun Deer Hunt

Department of Natural Resources officials say they are ready for the gun deer season. DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp says it’s encouraging to see increasing numbers of women and youth participating in the hunt. Assistant Deputy Secretary Scott Gunderson says it’s important to have a safe hunt so they remind hunters to keep in mind the acronym TABK or treat every firearm as if it’s loaded, always point your muzzle in a safe direction, be certain of your target and beyond, and keep your finger outside the trigger guard until your ready to shoot. Chief Warden Todd Schaller urges hunters to learn the regulations for the region they will be hunting in. The nine-day gun deer hunt starts on Saturday.
