DNR Says Cleanup Underway for Manure Runoff In FDL County

Cleanup is underway on a farm in the town of Calumet following a manure runoff accident. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports they are working with the Fond du Lac County Land and Water Conservation Department to assess the impact of manure runoff into a road ditch and two intermittent streams in the town of Calumet (Fond du Lac County) and town of Brothertown (Calumet County).

The cleanup is located on the Loron Bock Farm near Artesia Beach Road and Highway 151. The runoff was first reported to the DNR on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Fond du Lac County Land and Water Conservation and DNR staff have been on site daily to monitor the cleanup and containment process and take water samples.

Neighbors in the vicinity of the farm should monitor well water for changes in taste, smell and color. If water changes occur, switch to an alternate water source and report that to the DNR using the emergency hotline number of 800-943-0003. No further details are available at this time. The DNR will share additional information as it becomes available.
