DNR’s Revised Aquatic Invasive Species Plan Available for Public

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has made the
state’s revised Aquatic Invasive Species management play available for public
view. The plan, which is the first update to the management plan since 2002,
maintains Wisconsin’s eligibility for funding and directs the efforts to combat
invasive species by the DNR and partner groups. The plan also introduces an
approach called “invasion pathway management” that will help the state limit
how invasive species move into and throughout Wisconsin. DNR officials say the
plan represents a “progression” of invasive species management where the state “moves
from establishing an AIS management program, to one where we are growing and
refining our existing program to reduce invasion risk and impacts further.”
