Dock Spiders Break Three Game Skid

FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders scored 15-plus runs to snap their three-game losing streak in a 16-5 win over the Battle Creek Battle Jacks at MCCU Field on Saturday night.

The win saw the Dock Spiders improve to 24-22 on the year, and 5-7 in the second half. The loss saw the Battle Jacks fall to 22-24 on the year and 4-6 in the second half.

The Dock Spiders scored in six of their nine offensive innings, including nine runs over the last three innings. Branden Comia (Illinois) tied his career-high with five RBI while Parker Noland (Vanderbilt) tallied four. Nick Mitchell (Western Illinois) tied his career-high with his second four-hit game of the season and drove in four.

In the first inning, the Dock Spiders got on the board with a two-run double from Branden Comia. Then, Parker Noland and Comia both went yard in the third to give the Dock Spiders a 6-0 lead to knock Battle Jacks starter Brett Sanchez (Bellhaven) out of the game. Sanchez entered the game with a 0.36 ERA, but allowed six runs over three innings to take the loss and fall to 1-4 on the year.

The Dock Spiders would tally another run in the fourth off a double from Noland and would tally three more in the seventh off an RBI hit-by-pitch and a two-run single from Mitchell.

On the pitching side, the Dock Spiders pitching staff threw 6.1 no-hit innings, headlined by a two-inning, four-strikeout performance from Noah Magee (Ole Miss) to get his first win of the year.

Battle Creek would break through with three runs in the seventh off three walks, two errors and a single. The Dock Spiders would then send 11 batters to the plate in a five-run eighth inning, including a two-run double from Comia and a two-run single from Mitchell. The Dock Spiders would score their final run of the ninth off a wild pitch in the ninth.

The Dock Spiders and Battle Jacks finish up their two-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 ET at MCCU Stadium.
